Government of Bermuda

The Hon. E. David Burt, JP, MP
Premier & Minister of Finance
Bermuda’s system of government is based upon the Westminster model of parliamentary democracy. The system relies on organised political parties who present policies to the electorate for approval in a general election. Bermuda is divided into 36 constituencies; each represented by one member in the House of Assembly.
The political party that wins the most seats in the general election, or who has the support of a majority of members in the House of Assembly, forms the government. The largest minority party becomes the official opposition.
